This past Saturday, young adults from our residential program attended the Built for This Young Adults Conference, hosted by The Well Community Church’s Young Adults ministry at its Clovis Campus.

The theme was Real People. Real Faith. Real Life. and the day lived up to it. The conference created space for honest conversations about relationships, dating, identity, desire, and what it means to follow Jesus in these often complicated areas of life.
Breakout sessions covered topics including:
- Covenantal friendship
- Identity and contentment
- Freedom from sexual brokenness
- Listening to the Lord
- Healthy conflict
Each one invited our young adults to reflect on how faith shapes the way they see themselves, pursue relationships and navigate life’s challenges.
Why These Conversations Matter
For young people who have experienced instability, rejection or a lack of consistent love and belonging, the desire to be known and accepted can run especially deep. In the search for connection, it is not always easy to tell which relationships truly nurture us and which leave us vulnerable to unhealthy patterns.
Sometimes the desire to belong can lead us to compromise our boundaries, seek our worth in other people’s approval, or look to relationships to meet needs that only God can fully satisfy.
These are not always easy conversations, but they are important ones. Our young people deserve spaces where they can ask difficult questions without shame and discover what healthy relationships, authentic belonging and a strong sense of identity look like. From a faith perspective, that also means learning that while human connection is a beautiful and necessary part of life, our deepest foundation of identity, worth and love is found in God.
At Fresno Mission Youth Services, we believe caring for young people means more than meeting immediate needs or providing a safe place to stay. It means investing in the whole person through meaningful mentorship, healthy connection, personal growth, and spiritual development as they work toward stability and independence.
Your Impact in Action
If you support Fresno Mission, this story is part of yours. Days like this are possible because donors like you provide the foundation of a stable place to live, staff who walk alongside our young adults every day, and room to grow in faith and identity. When a young person begins to understand their own worth, your generosity is part of how they got there.
A Big Thank You

And of course, the day included a great tri-tip lunch, generously provided by The Well! We’re grateful to The Well Community Church’s Young Adults ministry for their hospitality and for creating space for real conversations that can have a lasting impact for our next generation.
Because building a brighter future is about more than where you live. It’s also about knowing who you are, understanding your worth and building relationships on a foundation of truth and purpose.
