For a young person experiencing homelessness or crisis, life can feel like it’s moving at a hundred miles an hour: uncertainty, survival mode and constant noise. A safe place to sleep matters deeply, and because of friends like you, our Youth Services program can offer one. We believe shelter is only the beginning, because true transformation begins with relationships.
That’s why youth engagement is at the heart of what we do. We want every young person who walks through our doors to know they aren’t simply residents in a program. They are people with stories, gifts, hopes, and futures worth investing in. When you give, that’s exactly what you’re investing in.

This week, our youth had the chance to step away from the pace of the city and spend time at Lewis Creek. Along the trail, we introduced them to the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing,” a mindful practice of slowing down and intentionally immersing yourself in the sights, sounds, and rhythms of nature. For young people whose lives so often feel rushed and unsettled, there was something meaningful about simply being still, breathing deeply and noticing the world around them.
We also reflected on something much older than forest bathing: the biblical story of creation. In Genesis, God places humanity in a garden. Before there were cities, schedules, screens, responsibilities, or the constant noise of life, there was a garden. There was creation, there was relationship, and there was an invitation to slow down and experience the world God had made. Connecting a modern practice like shinrin-yoku with that ancient picture gave us the opportunity to marvel at the intentionality of God’s design and reflect on what it means to care for the whole person.
And, of course, there was plenty of laughter, conversation, exploration, and good food along the way.

Days like this happen because of you.
Your support does more than provide a bed for the night. It creates spaces where young people can belong, engage, reflect, and grow, and where they can experience intentional relationships with people who show up for them. Our hope is that through every conversation, activity, meal, hike, and moment of connection, these young people encounter a reflection of the love God has for them.
Shelter is important, but young people need more than a roof. They need relationships, purpose, community and someone willing to walk alongside them. That’s what we’re committed to and we’re so grateful you’re walking alongside them with us.
Your gift helps a young person find more than a place to stay. It helps them find belonging.
