Thiesen Family

In the middle of the Central Valley, where peaches ripen under the California sun and orchards tell stories of generations past, Tim and Jessie Thiesen are writing a new kind of farming
legacy—one rooted in faith, family, and radical generosity.

As fourth-generation farmers at Rio Vista Fruit Farms, Tim grew up among the trees. But it wasn’t just fruit that grew—it was a deep sense of responsibility to people. He watched his father serve not just crops, but his community, offering prayer, compassion, and produce to anyone in need.

Jessie, who left her teaching career to raise their children on the farm, brought a steady conviction into the family business: what we have is not ours—it’s God’s. Her belief in giving, even when it feels uncomfortable, has shaped the way they live, lead, and give.

Their partnership with the Fresno Mission was born out of that conviction. What began with fruit donations quickly grew into something bigger—financial support, volunteer hours, and now a desire to inspire others. “It’s easy to give what we grow,” Tim says. “But giving money? That stretched me. Jessie showed me how to trust God with both.”

They’ve weathered hailstorms, market dips, and sleepless nights guarding orchards from theft. Still, they give—because they know that somewhere in Fresno, a child, a family, a neighbor needs support.

To the Thiesens, Fresno Mission isn’t just an organization; it’s a partner in purpose—a place that mirrors their heart for people and reflects the gospel in action. And they believe they’re not alone. “There are so many farmers in our valley who could do this,” Jessie says. “It doesn’t take a lot—just a heart willing to say yes.”

In a world that often measures success by harvest size or profit margin, Tim and Jessie are sowing something richer: open hands, full hearts, and a farm that feeds far more than a table.

Because generosity planted in faith bears fruit for generations.
